The Cotton College Women forum aims at the advancement of women of the state of Assam in particular and the women of the North-East in general. Various dimensions of women and children are the focus areas of its activities. The forum is also carrying out research on women related issues of the North-East India. At present, CCWF has undertaken some extension activities for underpriviledged children and women of remote areas under the CPE scheme, sponsored by the UGC. The Forum publishes a journal named ‘Concerns and Voices’, published annually dealing with women and children related issues.


Activities:

CCWF celebrated its Foundation Day on 5th March, 2016 by organizing the Annual Parual Phukan Memorial Lecture which was delivered by noted educationist and social activitist Smt Mitali Barthakur on the theme ‘Meditation and Modernism’.

The celebration of International Women’s Day on 5th March, 2016 was marked by a visit to the Mithingapuri Gopal Boro LP School, Gorchuk, Guwahati adopted by CCWF in 2015 under the CPE program. Essential books and other study materials were donated on the occasion.

 

On 4th June, 2016, another team of CCWF visited the school and they donated 2 bookshelves and 2 ceiling fans. A sum of Rs. 6000/- was offered to three teachers of the school as remuneration who have been voluntarily imparting education to the students. For the benefit of the faculty and office staff of the college, CCWF took the responsibility to restructured and handed over to new agency to run the Creche within the college premises. The Creche was formally inaugurated on 6th June, 2016.

Career counseling programme for students of Arts Stream was organized by FLO, Lady’s Wing of FICCI, Northeast region in collaboration with CCWF on  20.6.14

 

New year (2015) and Bhogali Bihu celebration at KBR at 12.30pm-1,30pm.

 

A new school, Mithingapuri Gopal Boro L P School, Mithingapuri, Niren Boro Path, Gorchuk Guwahati-781035, Ph 98647 04437; has been adopted by CCWF, as an extension service of CCWF.

Interaction with the local people at Mithingapuri LP School. Rs.4000 donated by CCWF during visit on 21.1.15, to initiate the development the primary school.

The Forum has donated blackboard, chalk, duster and a no. of charts. Also, 6 pairs of desk-bench the cost of which is Rs. 1700/- per pair were donated.  It gives me pride to inform that three honorable members of the Forum have donated Rs.1000/- each as remuneration to the three dedicated teachers of the school.

 

Follow up of Hajangbari Junior Basic School, which was visited and develop by CCWF (2012-14) along with NSS team of the college as an extension service of CCWF under CPE Grant of UGC.

 

 Interaction with girl students of Cotton College, ছাত্ৰী বান্ধৱীৰ সৈতে অন্তৰংগ আলাপ was held on 15/10/15 at Conference Hall at 12.45pm. Altogether 90 students participated among whom the questionnaires were distributed.
A report of this discussion with suggestion from the girl’s students for betterment of college environment has been submitted to IQAC.
