Rajanikanta Bordoloi Boys’ Hostel
Year of establishment : 1910
History : Rajanikanta Bordoloi (RKB) Boys’ Hostel was started in a thatched house near the Cotton Muslim Hostel (presently SMH Hostel) in the year 1910. In 1928, it was shifted to the IES quarter no. I, which was located at the present day site of the hostel. The present building of the hostel came into existence at a much later date. RKB Hostel was earlier known as ‘Cosmopolitan Hostel’. In the year 1986, it was renamed as ‘Rajanikanta Bordoloi Boys’ Hostel’ in memory of Late Rajanikanta Bordoloi, the first novelist in Assamese language and a doyen in the literary field of Assam. In 2002, a new RCC block has been added in the western side of this hostel and was named ‘Ambikagiri Roychoudhury PG Boys’ Hostel’ in memory of Asom Kesari Ambikagiri Roychoudhury, a veteran nationalist literary figure of Assam. However, allotment of boarders to this block has been started only since 2006. This block has 23 seats for PG students in 10 rooms. RKB Hostel has altogether 30 rooms in three blocks. Many renowned personalities in different fields of life from Assam in particular and NE India in general were once boarders of RKB Boys’ Hostel. RKB Hostel has celebrated its centenary on 2nd and 3rd October, 2010 with much pomp and gaiety.
Seat Capacity : 85 (in 30 rooms)Facilities : The hostel has a spacious ground to play various outdoor games. Facilities for indoor games like table tennis, chess, carom etc. are also available. Several English and Assamese daily newspapers are regularly subscribed in the hostel.

Activities : RKB Hostel annually organizes ‘All Guwahati Inter-College Hostel Quiz Competition’, ‘Inter- Cotton Hostel Cricket Championship’ and ‘Inter-Cotton Hostel Self Composed Poem Competition’. Every year, Saraswati Puja is performed with pomp and gaiety in this hostel. Hostel picnic is also an annual activity, which is arranged during the winter in each and every year. The boarders of RKB Boys’ Hostel bring out annually their wall magazine named ‘Sarbajanin’ and hostel magazine named ‘Cosmo’.
