History : Seetanath Brahma Chaudhury (SNBC) Boys’ Hostel was established in the year 1929. Earlier known as the ‘New Hostel’, this hostel was renamed as ‘Seetanath Brahma Chaudhury Boys’ Hostel’ in 1989, after the name of the great Assamese littérateur and Parliamentarian Late Seetanath Brahma Choudhury. During the World War – I & II, the entire hostel complex was used as Army Hospital. SNBC Hostel has three blocks – Block I having 7 rooms; Block II having 12 rooms and Block III having 6 rooms. Half of the Block III is being occupied by Bishnu Ram Medhi Govt. Law College. SNBC Hostel was once home to many distinguished personalities in different walks of life from Assam in particular and NE India in general.
Seat Capacity : 90 (in 25 rooms)Facilities : The hostel has a ground to play various outdoor games. Facilities for indoor games like table tennis, chess, carom etc. are also available. Several English and Assamese daily newspapers, and magazines are regularly subscribed in this hostel.

Activities : SNBC Hostel annually organizes ‘Kathin Ch. Rabha Memorial Inter-Cotton Hostel Quiz Competition’. Every year, Saraswati Puja is performed with pomp and grandeur in this hostel. Hostel picnic is also an annual activity, which is arranged during the winter in each and every year. ‘Rodali’, the wall magazine of SNBC Boys’ Hostel is brought out twice in a year, one on the occasion of Freshers’ Social and another on the Saraswati Puja day. The boarders of SNBC Hostel bring out annually their hostel magazine named ‘SNBCian’.
